Oilers Finish Runner-Up at William Beall Fall Classic

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's golf team wrapped up the William Beall Fall Classic at Findlay Country Club on Tuesday, Oct. 8. After 54-holes, the sixth-ranked Oilers placed second behind second-ranked Indianapolis. The Oilers shot a 908 (300-294-314) for three rounds to take runner-up honors.

Senior Meredith Wipper placed third with a 54-hole score of 221 (77-67-77) to lead the team. Wipper led the tournament with 11 birdies total throughout the three rounds.

In a tie for 8th, sophomore Jill Schmitmeyer concluded the tournament with a total of 228 (77-76-75) and junior Kristina Kniesly finished tied for 14th at 230 total (70-78-82). 

Findlay senior Mackenzie Keenoy (76-80-80) and freshman Danbi Kim (81-73-82) shot a 236 for the tournament to tie for 27th. Rounding out the Oilers were freshman Lexis Fickel, who tied for 90th with a three-round total of 274 (89-90-95), and senior Samantha Kellstrom, who shot 78 in the third round of play.

The Oilers will be back in action in a few short days when they compete at the Dayton Invitational. The tournament is scheduled for Oct. 14-15.
