#6 Oilers in Second at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Sevierville, TN- The University of Findlay women's golf team began their spring season at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Sunday, March 14th. The Oilers shot a 300 on day one and are in second place, only three strokes off the lead, at the tournament which is comprised of mostly NCAA Division I schools.

Three Oilers paced the team with 3-over par 74 in the opening round including senior Meredith Wipper, senior Kristina Kniesly, and junior Jill Schmitmeyer, who all are in a tie for fifth place. 

Wipper had one birdie and an eagle in the round. Kniesly tallied three birdies for her round of 74. Schmitmeyer took advantage of the par five holes, making a birdie on four of the five.

Freshman Gabby Woods sits in a tie for 26th after an opening round 78 (+7) while junior Danbi Kim opened with a score of 82 (+11) which places her 48th.

The second round will take place once again at the Highland Course at Sevierville Golf Club tomorrow, Monday, March 15th.
