Oilers in 2nd at NC4K Classic

The University of Findlay women's golf team is in second place after day one of the NC4K Classic, which is being held at the Jefferson Country Club in Blacklick, Ohio. The Oilers fired a 308 on April 5 and are two strokes behind the University of Indianapolis, who leads the tournament with a score of 306.

Freshman Gabby Woods led the Oilers in the first round and is tied for second with a 1-over par score of 73. Woods made four birdies on the day, the best mark in the field.

Senior Kristina Kniesly also had a good day for Findlay and is tied for fifth with a 4-over par score of 76 while sophomore Lexis Fickel is tied for 17th after firing a 78.

Senior Meredith Wipper posted a 79 and is tied for 24th, junior Danbi Kim carded an 80 and is tied for 31st, and junior Jill Schmitmeyer is tied for 43rd with an 83.

Freshman Sarah Scarpill is also competing for Findlay and is tied for 67th with an 88.

The second and final round of competition will be held tomorrow.
