Oilers Sweep Postseason Awards

All-Conference Team

The University of Findlay women's golf team swept the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) postseason awards as junior Jill Schmitmeyer was named the Player of the Year, Gabby Woods was tabbed the Freshman of the Year, and Dominic Guarnieri was voted the Coach of the Year.

Schmitmeyer earned all-conference honors and has led the Oilers during the 2020-21 with a scoring average of 75.67, the 40th-best mark in NCAA Division II. She also ranks 21st among all DII golfers with 48 birdies on the year. The St. Marys, Ohio native has won two events this year, capturing first place honors at the Tiffin Fall Invitational and the Cav Classic. She also took third at the conference championship in helping lead the Oilers to their third straight G-MAC title.

Woods, who won the G-MAC title in 2021 and earned all-conference accolades in the process, ranks 93rd in the nation in scoring average at 77.05 and is tenth among all golfers at the NCAA Division II level with 53 birdies while Guarnieri was selected as the top coach in the conference for the third straight season and has his team in contention to advance to the NCAA Division II National Championship.

In addition, senior Meredith Wipper, senior Kristina Kniesly, and junior Danbi Kim earned all-conference honors for the Oilers as well.

Wipper ranks 70th in the nation in scoring average at 76.48 while Kniesly is 73rd at 76.62. Wipper has been named all-conference four times during her career now while this is the third time Kniesly has achieved the honor.

Kim meanwhile earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career and tied for fifth at the conference championship earlier this season.
