Oilers in 4th After Day 2 of National Championship

The University of Findlay women's golf team is in fourth place after day two of the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship, which is being held at the TPC of Michigan in Dearborn, Mich. The Oilers shot a 301 on the second day and have a two-round total of 601 (300, 301) for the tournament.

Senior Meredith Wipper, an All-American last year, led the Oilers on day two with a 4-under par score of 68 and is tied for third overall at the tournament with an even-par 144 (76, 68). Wipper carded seven birdies on the day and currently leads the field with 11 overall.

Junior Jill Schmitmeyer continued her solid play with a 2-over par score of 74 on Wednesday and is tied for fifth overall with a 3-over par 147 (73, 74). Schmitmeyer, the 2021 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Year, posted ten pars and three birdies on the day.

Senior Kristina Kniesly (82, 78 – 160) and junior Danbi Kim (79, 81 – 160) are both tied for 50th overall while freshman Gabby Woods is tied for 56th with a 161 (72, 89).

The top eight teams at the end of the day tomorrow will advance to match play for a chance at the 2021 NCAA Division II title.
