Oilers Open Season | Findlay in Fifth After Day One

Carmel, Indiana- The University of Findlay women's golf team opened their season today, Monday, Sep. 13, at the UIndy Fall Invitational hosted by University of Indianapolis. The Oilers shot a 36- hole score of 612 (310, 302) and are in fifth place in the fourteen-team field.  

The Oilers were led by freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy who shot six- over par (78,72). She is currently in tenth place individually and six shots behind the leaders. M. Mulcahy was atop the field in par-five scoring, she averaged 4.88 throughout the rounds.  

Alongside Mulcahy was senior Jill Schmitmeyer who opened with a 77 (+5) in her first round and closed the day with a 76 (+4) putting her in 16th place. Sophomore Gabby Woods sits tied for 17th at ten- over par (77,77). Senior Danbi Kim is in a tie for 23rd at eleven- over par (78,77). Rounding out the lineup is freshman Erin Mulcahy who is in a tie for 45th at eighteen-over par (82,80). 

Also competing individually is senior Kristina Kniesly at fourteen- over par (80,78) and junior Lexis Fickel at thirty one- over par (89,86).  

The Oilers look to improve tomorrow, Tuesday Sep. 14 in the final round.
