Oilers In Second at Lady Bulldog Fall Invite

Big Rapids, Michigan- The University of Findlay women's golf team finished their first round today Sunday, Sep. 26 at the Lady Bulldog Fall Invite hosted by Ferris State University. The Oilers finished the first day with a total of 301 (+13). They are currently one stroke behind the leader, Grand Valley State University. 

Leading the Oilers was senior Jill Schmitmeyer. Schmitmeyer finished two- under par (70). She is in first after day one. Schmitmeyer has a three-shot lead over Grand Valley's Kay Zubkus (+1). Schmitmeyer dominated the par fives today, as she played them the best in the field at an average of 4.60 (-2). She also led the field in the total amount of birdies at 4.  

Assisting Schmitmeyer were seniors Kristina Kniesly and Danbi Kim. Kniesly and Kim both posted five-over par scores (77) leaving them in a tie for eighth place. Alongside the seniors was freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy who also shot a five- over par (77). 

Rounding out the lineup was sophomore Gabby Woods. Woods shot nine- over par (81) putting her in a tie for 33rd place.  

Competing in the tournament as an individual was freshman Erin Mulcahy. E. Mulcahy finished is in a tie for 49th at twelve-over par (84).  

The Oilers are back, tomorrow Sep. 27 as they chase their first win of the season at the Lady Bulldog Fall Invite.
