Oilers Finish Second at Lady Bulldog Fall Invite

Big Rapids, Michigan- The University of Findlay women's golf team finished in second place today Monday, Sep. 27, at the Lady Bulldog Fall Invite at the Katke Golf Course of Ferris State University. The Oilers shot a 36- hole score of 612 (301, 311). Grand Valley State University finished first beating the Oilers by thirteen strokes.  

The Oilers were led by senior Jill Schmitmeyer at five-over par (70,79). Schmitmeyer finished in a tie for second place individually earning herself a spot on the all- tournament team. Schmitmeyer led the field in par five scoring playing them at an average of 4.80 (-2). Schmitmeyer led the tournament for most of the day before recording three bogeys in her final four holes. Grand Valley State's Kay Zubkus won the tournament at four-over par. 

Alongside Schmitmeyer was senior Danbi Kim and freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy. The pair finished in a tie for eighth at ten-over par. Kim and M. Mulcahy both shot back-to- back 77s.  

Senior Kristina Kniesly finished in a tie for 14th at twelve-over par (77,79). Rounding out the lineup was sophomore Gabby Woods who tied for 20th at fifteen-over par (81, 78).  

Competing as an individual was Erin Mulcahy. E. Mulcahy finished in 26th place with a seventeen-over par score (84, 77).  

The Oilers will be back in action Oct. 5 and 6 at the William Beall Fall Classic at Findlay Country Club.
