Oilers in Second at William Beall Fall Classic | Woods Leads Tournament

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's golf team completed the first and second rounds of the William Beall Fall Classic today, Monday, Oct. 4 at Findlay Country Club. The Oilers are currently in second place among the field of eighteen shooting scores of 293 and 301 (+18). 

The Oilers were led by sophomore Gabby Woods. Woods is the solo leader at two-under par (71, 71). Her 142 total ties the third best 36-hole score in school history. Woods carded seven birdies on the day and never carded anything worse than bogey. Woods averaged 2.88 (-1) on the par threes, 4.05 (+1) on the par fives, and 4.75(-2) on the par fives. Woods will be chasing her second collegiate victory tomorrow.  

Senior Kristina Kniesly assisted the Oilers with a 75, 74 (+5). Her consistent play leaves her in tie for eighth entering the final round. Senior Jill Schmitmeyer contributed with a 72, 78 (+6) leaving her in a tie for tenth. Freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy shot 75, 78 (+9) and is in a tie for 21st. Rounding out the lineup was senior Danbi Kim who shot 75, 80 (+11) and is in a tie for 31st 

Also competing in the tournament was Findlay "B" team. They currently sit in twelfth place.  

Leading the "B" team was sophomore Abby Jones. Jones shot 80, 77 (+13) and is in a tie for 38th. Sophomore Sarah Scarpill assisted with rounds of 78 and 80 (+14) and is in a tie for 42nd. Freshman Erin Mulcahy contributed rounds of 77 and 82 (+15) and is in a tie for 49th. Junior Lexis Fickel shot 79,81 (+16) and is tied for 53rd. Rounding out the "B" team was sophomore Jordan Pruitt who shot 85, 77 (+18) and is in a tie for 60th 

This is Findlay's fourth tournament of the fall as they continue to look for their first win of the season. The Oilers are currently seven shots behind the leaders Barry University (FL) and four shots ahead of Grand Valley State University.  

The Oilers will be back for the final round tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021. The tee times start at 9am and Findlay will tee off from 10:20am to 10:52am.
