Oilers Take Second at LeAnn Noble Memorial | Continue Breaking Records

Dahlonega, Georgia- The University of Findlay women's golf team finished in second place after two days of competition at the LeeAnn Noble Memorial hosted by the University of North Georgia. The Oilers shot a 54- hole score of 853 (291, 284, 278). They fell short of no. 6 Limestone University by four strokes. 

Competing in the tournament are seven teams that are in the top twenty-five in the nation (University of Findlay no. 9), including the number one team in the nation- Dallas Baptist University per the Mizuno WGCA Coaches Poll. The no. 9 ranked Oilers beat five of those six teams. These teams included no. 1 Dallas Baptist University, no. 4 Anderson University, no. 8 University of Missouri-St. Louis, no. 10 Florida Southern College, and no. 13 Lee University.  

The Oilers shot a 278 (-10) today, breaking the record they set yesterday of 284 (-4). Their 54-hole score of 853 (-11) today, broke the previous program record from 2018 at the G-MAC Fall Invitational by 23 shots. These scores also break the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) records for both 18-holes and 54-holes. The Findlay women's golf program now holds the G-MAC records for the lowest 18, 36, and 54-holes. 

The Oilers were led by senior Jill Schmitmeyer who finished third with a 6-under par 210 (71,70,69) leading her to all-tournament honors. Her performance this week puts her on the top of the record books, as she takes the top spot for 54-hole scoring. Schmitmeyer's 69 today ties the third-best 18-hole score.  

Alongside Schmitmeyer was senior Kristina Kniesly. Kniesly shot a 4-under par 212 (75,69,68) and finished in fourth place earning herself all-tournament honors. Kniesly joins her teammate Jill Schmitmeyer in the record books with her 54-hole score being the second- best in program history just behind Schmitmeyer's performance this week. Kniesly's 68 today ties the second- best score in program history.  

Assisting the team was senior Danbi Kim who shot a 1-over par 217 (73,72,72) and finished in a tie for 15th. Kim's 54-hole score of +1 puts her in the record books for the sixth best score in program history. 

Sophomore Gabby Woods contributed scores of 75,73,70 (+2) and ties for 18th with a 218. Woods also joins her teammates in the record books with her performance, becoming the eighth all-time best 54-hole score in program history.  

Rounding out the lineup is freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy who shot rounds of 72, 77, 71 (+4) and tied for 24th with a 220.  

Competing as an individual is Erin Mulcahy. She shot rounds of 74, 79, 80 (+17) and finish tied for 68th with a 233.  

This was the Oilers final tournament of their fall season. They will be returning March 13 and 14 for the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate in Sevierville, Tennessee.
