Kniesly | Oilers Leading SVSU Invitational

Georgetown, Ken.- The University of Findlay women's golf team is currently in first place at the SVSU Spring Invitational, which wrapped up round one today on Mar. 19 at Cherry Blossom Golf Course. The Oilers shot a 17-over par score of 305 on Saturday and lead the field by 15 strokes. 

Leading the Oilers was senior Kristina Kniesly, who is in the lead after posting a one-over par 73. She carded four birdies on the day, the highest in the field.

Sophomore Gabby Woods is right behind Kniesly and is tied for third with a three-over par score of 75. Following Woods was freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy who is tied for sixth after posting a five-over par round of 77. Rounding out the lineup was senior Jill Schmitmeyer and freshman Erin Mulcahy who both shot rounds of 80, eight-over par. They are both tied for 12th. 

Competing as individuals in the event were senior Danbi Kim, sophomore Sarah Scarpill, and junior Lexis Fickel. Kim shot a three-over par round of 75 and is tied for third at the event while Scarpill posted a seven-over par score of 79, which is good for ninth. Fickel meanwhile shot a thirteen-over par score of 85 and is tied for 32nd. 

The Oilers will be back in action again tomorrow, Mar. 20 for the final 18-holes of competition.
