Oilers Win Four in a Row | Woods Takes Title

Blacklick, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's golf team, for the fourth time this spring, have found themselves tournament champions. The Oilers finished in first place at the NC4K College Classic, which wrapped up play today Apr. 5 at Jefferson Country Club, hosted by Ohio Dominican University. The Oilers shot 13-over par (301, 288) to take the honors. Notably, the seventh ranked Oilers dominated against region foe and eleventh ranked University of Indianapolis, beating them by twenty-five strokes.  

Leading the Oilers was sophomore Gabby Woods, who captured the individual title. Woods finished at even par after rounds of 74, 70. She carded two bogeys, two birdies, an eagle, and thirteen pars in her final round. In fact, she has not finished outside of the top five this spring. With her win today, Woods has captured her second title of the spring and her third title of her career. Since 2010, no sophomore has racked up more tournament wins than Woods. 

Finishing right behind Woods was senior Kristina Kniesly. Kniesly finished the tournament in second place carding rounds of 73, 72. Putting her at one-over par for the tournament. With her finish today, Kniesly has not finished outside of the top three this spring.

Senior Jill Schmitmeyer finished in fifth place at five-over par, with rounds of 75, 74. Freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy finished tied for sixth at seven-over par (79,72). Rounding out the lineup was freshman Erin Mulcahy. E. Mulcahy finished tied for 18th at 15-over par (79,80).  

Competing as an individual in the event is sophomore Sarah Scarpill. Scarpill shot four-over par 75,73 and finished in third. This is her first top-five finish of her career.  

Since March, no team or individual has beaten the University of Findlay women's golf team.  

The Oilers will be back in action Apr. 11 and 12 for the Cav Classic in Canton, Ohio.
