Oilers Tied for 8th at NCAA DII National Championship

Results

The University of Findlay women's golf team opened up the 2022 NCAA Division II National Championship with a 304 on May 10 at the Chattahoochee Golf Club in Gainesville, Ga. The Oilers are tied for eighth at the event and 11 strokes off the lead.

Senior Kristina Kniesly led the Oilers on day one and is tied for fifth after carding a 1-under par score of 71. Kniesly recorded six birdies on the day, which led the field. She was also 3-under par on par 5 holes, the best mark at the tournament.

Senior Jill Schmitmeyer posted a 4-over par 76 and is tied for 33rd while freshman Mary Kelly Mulcahy is tied for 44th with a 5-over par 77.

Freshman Erin Mulcahy and sophomore Gabby Woods also competed for Findlay at the event and are tied for 73rd and 96th, respectively. Mulcahy shot an 80 on day one while Woods carded an 86.

As a team the Oilers posted 11 birdies, the third-best mark of the competition.

The Oilers will complete round two tomorrow with round three scheduled for Thursday. The top eight in the standings after stroke play will advance to match play.
