Oilers in Fourth Amongst Nations Best at Rollins Legends Invitational

Bradenton, Fl.- The University of Findlay women's golf team headed south for their final tournament of the fall. They completed day one of the Rollins Legends Invitational Monday, Oct. 31 at Bradenton Country Club. The tournament plays host to some of the best competition in the country as teams from around the nation travel to the event. Notable teams include #1 Dallas Baptist, #3 Lynn, #4 Nova Southeastern, #8 Saint Leo, #10 Lee, #12 Tampa,#19 Lander, #20 Flagler, #21 Columbus State, #24 Florida Southern, and #25 Rollins. The Oilers, who are currently ranked sixth in the nation, find themselves in fourth after a 36-hole total of 596 (+28) with rounds of 295 (+11 ) and 301 (+17). 

Leading the Oilers was junior Gabby Woods. Woods recorded a round of 75 (+4) before carding a 72 (+1) to move herself up the leaderboard sixteen spots to end the day in a tie for thirteenth at five-over par. She carded two very consistent rounds, making just four bogeys, three birdies, and twenty-seven pars. In fact, Woods ranks second in the tournament in the amount of pars made. 

Assisting Woods was sophomore Mary Kelly Mulcahy. Mulcahy, who is individually ranked 31st in Division II according to Golfstat, finds herself in a tie for sixteenth at six-over par. M. Mulcahy carded rounds of 72 (+1) and 76 (+5). Senior Danbi Kim shot rounds of 74 (+3) and 76 (+5) to leave herself in a tie for 27th at eight-over par. Senior Jill Schmitmeyer is in a tie for 29th at nine-over par after recording rounds of 74 (+3) and 77 (+6). Rounding out the lineup for the Oilers is sophomore Erin Mulcahy. E. Mulcahy shot back-to-back rounds of 78 (+7) to finish in a tie for 56th at 14-over par. 

Competing as individuals in the event are freshman Hayley Dye and junior Sarah Scarpill. Dye recorded rounds of 79 (+8) and 75 (+4) to leave herself in a tie for 46th at twelve-over par. Scarpill carded a first round 84 (+13) before bouncing back in round two with a 74 (+3). She is in a tie for 68th at 16-over par.

The Oilers will be back tomorrow, Nov. 1, for the final round. They chase the leader Lynn who is currently just one-over par.
