Schmitmeyer Earns G-MAC's Top Honor | Collegiate Achievement Award

Indianapolis, Ind. – On Wednesday, May 17, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) named their annual recipients of the league's most prestigious award, the Collegiate Achievement Award. Findlay women's golfer Jill Schmitmeyer has been named as the female recipient. She is the first University of Findlay athlete to earn the award.

"Jill has been one of our top performers on and off the golf course", said head coach Dominic Guarnieri. "She has balanced school and golf extremely well and is motivating, encouraging, loyal, and a hard worker. She possess all the qualities a coach could want in an athlete."

On the course, Schmitmeyer's career is one of the best in program history. The St. Mary's, Ohio native is a two-time all-American, a G-MAC Player of the Year (2021), a three-time all-East Region selection, and a three-time all-G-MAC performer. A three-time tournament winner, Schmitmeyer currently holds the record for career scoring average at UF with just one event remaining and holds the program's 54-hole scoring record with a 210. She also helped lead the Oilers to four consecutive conference titles, three East Region championships, and the 2022 Division II National Championship.

Academically, Schmitmeyer has been outstanding. She has earned Academic All-American from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) four times and is a four-time academic all-G-MAC selection, as well.

Jill is also involved on campus as she plays in the band for Revive, a student-led worship service that takes place every week. She is also an active member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, the Future Leaders Initiative, and has volunteered time downtown with City Mission.

The G-MAC annually honors a male and a female outgoing senior student-athlete with the Collegiate Achievement Award. This award is based on an individual's academic excellence, athletic achievements, character, leadership and engagement within the community and conference. The 2022-23 academic year represents the ninth annual presentation of the award and is the highest honor a Great Midwest student-athlete can receive.
