Mulcahy, Schmitmeyer, Woods Earn WGCA All-American

Findlay, Ohio- The Women's Golf Coaches Association has announced the 2022-23 Division II WGCA 2nd Team and Honorable Mention All-American Teams. First-team All-Americans were previously announced at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship. 

Earning first team all-American was sophomore Mary Kelly Mulcahy. Mulcahy averaged 73.68 this season, the lowest season average in program history. She was also named all-region by the WGCA after earning both the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Player of the Year and first team all-conference. She finished in the top-ten nine times and outside and finished outside of the top-25 once. The Lima, Ohio native's year was highlighted with a win at the SVSU Spring Invite- the third win of her young career. This is Mulcahy's second all-American honor.

Rounding out her career with second team all-American honors is senior Jill Schmitmeyer. Schmitmeyer averaged 74.53 this season. She was also named all-region by the WGCA and all-Great Midwest. Her lone win of the season came at the Cav Classic. She also recorded two top-threes, finished in the top-five four times, and in the top-20 eleven times. One of her best finishes came at the NCAA Division II National Championship where she finished tied for eighth. This is Schmitmeyer's third all-American honor of her career, the only three time all-American for UF in the NCAA era.

Junior Gabby Woods earned second team all-American honors. She averaged 73.89 this season, the second lowest season average in program history. She also was named all-region by the WGCA earlier this season along with earning all-conference honors. Woods had a remarkable year, tallying three wins this year which makes her the winningest UF golfer in the NCAA era with six career wins. The Sabina, Ohio native recorded wins at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship, and the NCAA Division II East Regional. Her year was highlighted by a second round 66 (-5) at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, breaking the 18-hole program record. She capped off her stellar year as runner-up at the NCAA Division II National Championship.
