Oilers Beat Battlers 19-3

Findlay, OH – The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team started off Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play with a 19-3 win over the Alderson Broaddus Battlers. The Oilers are now 3-7 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

After a delayed start due to snow, the Oilers came out ready to play and took a commanding 12-3 lead in the first half. In the second half, Findlay's defense held the Battlers from scoring while the offense put in 7 more goals to seal the victory.

The Oilers had 10 different goal scorers to combine for their 19 goals along with 13 assists.

Junior Ciara Burud had four goals and one assist along with six groundballs and two caused turnovers. Freshman Ashleigh Lesser put three in the net and also had three groundballs. Sophomore Hanna Morgan also scored three for the Oilers.

Senior Brie Caruso tallied two goals along with an assist and four draw controls. Freshman Liz Zatalava also had two goals. Sophomore Allie Kasprzyk had one goal and two assists and picked up four groundballs.

Senior Jacelyn Litman added a goal for the Oilers along with three assists and three groundballs. Senior Hannah Peebles and freshman Danielle Dilorenzo both added a goal apiece and each dished out two assists. Dilorenzo also snagged three draw controls. Sophomore Maddy Jordan also added a goal and a groundball in the win. 

Senior Claire Ferrell started in net for the Oilers and had two saves and one groundball. Freshman Rachel Bornstein finished out the game with four saves.

On the defensive end, sophomore Jordan Reineke grabbed three draw controls, five groundballs, and had two caused turnovers. Junior Brittany Stephens had three groundballs, two caused turnovers, and one draw control on the day.

The Oilers will be heading out to take on conference opponent Walsh on Thursday, April 4 at 5:00 PM.
