Oilers Win on Senior Day

The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team earned a 17-7 senior day win over Lake Erie College on April 26 at the Armstrong Sports Complex. The victory pushes the Oilers record to 7-9 on the season with a 5-1 mark in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play.

The Oilers got off to a fast start as they led 7-0 during the first 15 minutes of the game and took an 8-2 lead in the half. They then outscored the Storm 9-5 in the final period to grab a win in their final regular season home game of the year.

Senior Brie Caruso led the way with seven goals and six draw controls while junior Ciara Burud had three goals, two assists, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers.

Senior Hannah Peebles added two goals and four assists in the win, setting a new school record for assists in a season. Peebles now has 36 assists on the year, breaking the record of 33 set by Olivia Sherman last season. She also became the first Oilers player to record 100 goals and 100 assists in a career during the game and is sitting at 101 goals and a school record 103 assists.

Senior Jacelyn Litman had two assists, senior Lexi Miller had three draw controls, senior Emma Spellman caused three turnovers, and senior Annie Painter picked up a ground ball.

Senior Claire Ferrell was stout in goal for Findlay on the day, picking up four ground balls to go along with eight saves.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Sunday when they travel to Pepper Pike, Ohio to face Ursuline College at 1pm.
