Oilers Drop Home Opener vs #11 GVSU

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team fell 19-10 to the Grand Valley State Lakers this Thursday Mar. 9. With this loss the Oilers record falls 0-5 on the season.  

During the first quarter, the Lakers outscored the Oilers 6-2. The second quarter was low scoring, only three goals for Grand Valley State and two for Findlay, ending the half with a score of 9-4.  

In the third quarter, Findlay scored three goals within two minutes, four total and Grand Valley scored six. Alvarado scored the last two goals for the Oilers during the final quarter although it wasn't enough to come back against Grand Valley, the final score being 19-10.  

Senior Danielle Dilorenzo scored four goals, had one assist, had one groundball and three draw controls.  Senior Amber Patterson four groundballs and caused two turnovers. Sophomore Olivia Alvarado and Junior Madeline Shewbridge each had two goals. Freshman Tessa Chuba added one goal to the Oilers total and had three draw controls. Senior Izzy Murphy-Morrow had one goal, five draw controls, one groundball and two assists.  

On the defensive end, Senior goalie Rachel Bornstein had 12 saves and two groundballs.  

The Lakers took 36 shots during the game while the Oilers took 19.  

The Oilers will be back in action on their home turf when they play Frostburg State on Sunday, Mar. 12 at 12pm.
