Findlay Opens Conference Play | Handles Lake Erie

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's lacrosse team conquered the Lake Erie College Storm in their first conference game of the season with a score of 22-3 on Sunday, Mar. 26 at the Armstrong Sports Complex. With this win the Oilers record improves to 4-6 on the season and 1-0 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Storm move to 3-5 and 0-2 in conference play. 

The Oilers came out strong as Junior Madison Shewbridge scored the first goal of the game within a minute of play. Findlay continued to outshoot and outscore Lake Erie in every quarter.  

Junior Erin Kodger scored her first ever career goal and ended the game with a total of three goals, three groundballs and two caused turnovers.  

Freshman Tessa Chuba and sophomore Olivia Alvarado each added two goals to the Oilers total as well as an assist apiece. Senior Emma Heinrich and sophomore Emma Murrell both found the back of the net once during play.   

Senior Izzy Murphy-Morrow scored four goals, had three assists, one groundball, one draw control and one caused turnover. Senior goalie Rachel Bornstein made five saves during the game.   

Senior Danielle Dilorenzo scored seven goals, assisted on two others and picked up one groundball while breaking the school record for draw controls in a game with 18. 

The Oilers will be back in action Sunday, Apr. 2 when they welcome Tiffin to the Armstrong Sports Complex at 12pm.
