Long Day Ends in Loss to #12 Lake Erie

Painesville, OH – The University of Findlay wrestling team had a tall order on Saturday, Feb. 6 as they had two dual events, against top-15 opponents, in one day. The day began in Tiffin, Ohio where the Roughnecks, themselves ranked 14th in Division II, downed #13, Tiffin University. That match began at 1:00 p.m. and ended in a 24-17 victory. They had no rest as they then hopped on a bus and made the two and a half hour journey to Painesville, Ohio to take on #12, Lake Erie College. They lost that matchup by a 33-9 final.

Picking up wins in the bout against Lake Erie were sophomore Ryan Skonieczny, who won with a pin at the 2:48 mark, and junior Joey White, who won by a 3-0 decision.

Junior Nicholas Skonieczny was the closest match for Findlay that ended in a loss as he battled the #8 wrestler in DII at 165 pounds, Matthew Vandermeer, to a 1-0 decision.
