Top-10 Individual Performances - #7 Nick Goebel

The 2015-16 athletic year was another successful season for the Oilers, who saw a plethora of individual athletes achieve outstanding accomplishments. The UF athletic media relations staff has put together a list of the top-10 individual performances from the 2015-16 campaign and will be revealing them during the month of June.

#7 (Nick Goebel, Wrestling)

Nick Goebel accumulated more wins during the 2015-16 campaign than any other wrestler in the history of the Roughnecks storied program. He finished the season with a 40-5 record, eclipsing the school record of 39 victories set by Michael Lybarger during the 2010-11 season.

Goebel, who was the top-ranked wrestler in the nation in the 149-pound weight class for the majority of the year, captured a regional title for Findlay and later went on to take third at the NCAA Division II National Championship. His third place finish enabled him to secure All-American honors for the second consecutive season.

In addition to winning a regional title for the Roughnecks, Goebel was also victorious at the Findlay Open and Midwest Classic during the 2015-16 campaign.

During his tenure at Findlay, Goebel has produced an 86-27 record. The Bloomdale, Ohio native also earned a regional championship for the Roughnecks in 2015 and was named first team all-conference last year as well.
