Rougnecks Drop First Dual of the Season Against Nation's Top Team

Johnstown, Penn. - The University of Findlay wrestling team faced off against the number one ranked team in all of Division II in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 23. It was the Roughnecks' first dual matchup of the season and after the ten matches were completed, it was Pitt-Johnstown who picked up the 35-6 victory. 

The Mountain Cats sent out four nationally ranked wrestlers including two-time national champion at 149 pounds and current number one, Jacob Ealy.

In the 165 lb class, freshman Hunter Reed was the lone winner for the Oilers, as he defeated Jacob Smith of Pitt-Johnstown in 2:54 due to a fall. 

In the 174 lb weight class, Roughnecks tenth-ranked Nate Vandermeer faced off against the number four ranked Brock Biddle and was defeated in major decision.

Freshman Danny Rosales of Findlay faced off against the number three ranked wrestler in the 184 lb weight class and was defeated by technical fall (17-0 | 4:13).

Other Oiler competitors on the night included sophomore Derek Sharp, freshman Branson Proudlock, senior Devin Rogers, freshman Chase Moore, sophomore Keigan Yuhas, and freshman Caleb Carpenter.

The Roughnecks will be back in action on Saturday, December 7 as they will travel to Kenosha, Wisconsin. The match is set to begin action at 10:00am.
