Oilers Open Season at Michigan State

The University of Findlay wrestling program opened their season on Nov. 6 at the Michigan State Open in East Lansing, Mich.

In the 157-pound open bracket, senior James Wimer went 2-2 with a pair of wins over wrestlers from the University of Illinois. He began the tournament with a 6-1 win over Illinois' Luke Odom before falling 4-3 to Illinois' Joe Roberts. He then pinned Illinois' Jake Reicen in 6:44 before losing 9-2 to Cal Poly's Brawley Lamer.

At 184, senior Mark Trifelos went 2-2 as he started the tournament with a 5-1 win over Oklahoma's Eli Joseph. He then was pinned in 2:11 by Northern Illinois' Brit Wilson before scoring an 11-2 victory against Edinboro's Ethan Sabo. He then ended his run at the tournament with a 6-5 loss to Oklahoma's Carson Berryhill.

The Roughnecks will be back in action again on Nov. 20 when they host the Findlay Open inside the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex.
