Roughnecks Face Tough Competition at Tracy Borah Duals

Gunnison, Colo.- The University of Findlay wrestling team traveled 1,400 miles to Gunnison, Colo. for the 2023 Tracy Borah Duals. The Roughnecks competed in four rounds today, Saturday, Jan. 7, resulting in an 0-4 record at the event.

Findlay started the day facing no. 13 Adams State. The Roughnecks fell by a decision of 30-10 in favor of the Grizzlies. Headlining round one was sophomore Gary Nilson and senior Keigan Yuhas. Nilson, wrestling in the 165 weight class, overcame Adams State's Nico Carrasco by major decision earning four points for Findlay. Yuhas, wrestling in the 285 weight class, pinned Abraham Garcia in just over one minute to pick up six points for the Roughnecks. 

In round two, the Roughnecks faced no. 16 Western Colorado in which they fell by a score of 39-9. Junior Nicholas Korhorn led the Oilers in the 125 weight class with a win over Devin Gomez in the first sudden victory period to put three points on the board for the Roughnecks. Senior Mark Trifelos, wrestling in the 185 weight class, won over Pratt Williams by a decision of 7-0 giving Findlay three points in the matchup. Keigan Yuhas picked up his second win of the day as he took down Zach Schrader with a 3-0 decision to give the Roughnecks three points. 

The Roughnecks fell to Colorado School of Mines in the third round today by a score of 45-3. Junior Graham Shore picked up the lone win of the round, winning by decision over Tyler Krause in the 133 weight class. Shore picked up the three lone points for Findlay. 

Round four gave the Roughnecks their fourth loss of the day as they fell to CSU-Pueblo by a score of 43-12. Graham Shore picked another win for Findlay as he beat Marquis Kemp with a fall in the sixth minute to put the first six points on the board. Keigan Yuhas picked up a win for the Roughnecks due to a disqualification to give Findlay six more points.

Findlay will be back in action Jan. 17 where they travel to take on no. 13 McKendree.
