Wheeling, WV-The University of Findlay women's soccer team lost to the Wheeling Jesuit University Cardinals on Sunday, September 18. This loss gives the Oilers a 1-4 overall record.
The Cardinals capitalized in the 36th minute with a goal in the bottom of the net past sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Baer to lead the game 1-0, which ultimately ended the half.
Fourteen minutes into the second half, while the ball was bobbling in front of net, freshman Sierra Peacock exploited the Cardinals defense and tied the game up 1-1.
Two minutes after senior Madelyn Miller entered the second half, she put the ball in the back of the net to give the Oilers the lead 2-1.
With 12 minutes left to go in the second half, Wheeling Jesuit earned a penalty kick, which tied the game up 2-2 and led the Oilers and the Cardinals into overtime.
Three minutes into the second overtime, Wheeling Jesuit scored, ending the game 3-2 in favor of the Cardinals.
The Oilers will take the field again on Friday, September 23 at 4:00pm for their first conference game against Saginaw Valley State University at DeHaven Field.
