Oilers Shut Out the Storm

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team took DeHaven Field for a home contest versus Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) foe, Lake Erie College, on Thursday, April 1st. The Oilers won in shutout fashion, 4-0, and improve to 2-1-1 (2-1-1) while the Storm fall to 0-6 (0-6) on the season.

The game started rather slow as both defenses stood strong against each other's attacks for the majority of the first half. It was not until a deflection off the post when junior Brenna Shipley put one to the back of the net to put the Oilers up 1-0 in the 38th minute. Into halftime, the Oilers led 1-0 over the Storm.

Although a slow 1st half for the Oilers' offense, the Oilers' offense exploded for three goals in the 2nd half of play. Starting in the 51st minute, junior Olivia Frank scored, marking her fourth goal of the season. 

In the 68th minute, junior Adele Stradling joined the scoring column with a goal of her own for her second goal of the season. Finally, in the 85th minute, sophomore Sage Schnell scored her second goal of the season.

The Oilers put the attack on the Storm after outshooting the Storm by a margin of 18 to 2, including 13 of those shots being on goal. Freshman Kennedy Slovak was credited for the win which included a save as well.

The women's team will be back in action on Saturday, April 3rd when they host Walsh University. The scheduled kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
