Oilers Prevail 1-0 over Cavaliers

Findlay, OH- The University of Findlay women's soccer team competed against conference leading Walsh University in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup on Saturday, April 3rd. The Oilers were victorious in shutout fashion for the second game in a row and improve to 3-1-1 (3-1-1) while the Cavaliers fall to 4-2 (4-2).

In the first half, the Oilers were unable to capitalize on a few first half opportunities to score and went into the half without any goals scored by either team. However, junior Olivia Frank made sure to change that at the start of the second half.

In the 47th minute of the game and just two minutes into the second half, Frank broke free and put one through to the left corner to push the score to 1-0. It would ultimately be the deciding factor for the Oilers to take down the conference leading Cavaliers as the Oilers' defense were strong all game allowing just two shot attempts throughout the game.

The Oilers' attack were able to take a total of 11 shots including four by junior Adele Stradling accounted for four shots, one on goal, and Frank added three, all of which were on goal, including the 47th minute goal. This marks the fourth goal for Frank on the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Kennedy Slovak secured the win protecting the net for the Oilers while tallying two saves.

The Oilers will be back in action when the travel to Cedarville University on Thursday, April 8th. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
