Oilers Shutout Fighting Scots 3-0 | Talabac Scores a Pair

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team took the field against the visiting Ohio Valley Fighting Scots on Sunday, April 11. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup saw the Oilers secure the victory in a shutout fashion 3-0. The victory moves the Oilers' record to 4-1-1 (4-1-1) whereas the Fighting Scots fall to 3-4-1 (3-4-1).

During an afternoon with wet field conditions and rain falling on and off throughout the match, the Oilers surely did not mind the rain. The Oilers had a couple of attack attempts that looked like they would capitalize in the first half, but came up empty. However, in the 40th minute, the ball was rattling around the box until freshman Gretchen Malllin crossed it across to find fellow freshman Hannah Rybicki for the first goal of the game.

In the second half, the Oilers again began to push the ball up to create more opportunity and with a stellar pass up the field from sophomore Sam Francis to sophomore Elizabeth Talabac, Talabac found the upper part of the goal to push the lead to 2-0 in the 70th minute.

Talabac wasted no time is making yet another goal in the 76th minute when she once more found the back of the net from just outside the box to move the Oilers ahead 3-0.

The Oilers went on to outshoot the Fight Scots by a 12 to 7 margin and a shots on goal margin of 6 to 4. Rybicki led the Oilers with four shot attempts on the day while Talabac added three attempts, all of which were on goal. Sophomore Sage Schnell added two shots while senior Lindsey Ahbe, freshman Alyssa Stark, and freshman Ellie Tischler added a shot.

The Oilers' freshman goalkeeper Kennedy Slovak recorded another shutout win that included four saves. The shutout victory marks the fourth shutout win of the season for the Oilers.

The Oilers will take the field next on Thursday, April 15 at Cedarville. The kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
