Oilers Thrive in Second Half, Defeat Cavaliers 2-1

The University of Findlay Women's soccer team defeated the Walsh University Cavaliers on Oct 9 by a score of 2-1. This puts the Oilers at 8-1-1 overall and 7-0-1 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play. The win helps the Oilers remain in first place in the G-MAC.

Both goalies were perfect in the first half of play as they allowed no goals on multiple shots.

The Cavaliers started the second half with a quick unassisted goal in the 45th minute by Miriam Szijarto. Junior Sam Francis took over the game from there as she scored two goals for the Oilers. The first unassisted in the 51st minute of play and the second coming in the 68th minute off an assist from sophomore Ellie Tischler.

The Oilers goalkeeper Kennedy Slovak recorded 10 saves in the contest which is a career high for her. 

Findlay will be back in action at home on Oct. 14 when they take on the Ursuline Arrows.
