Oilers Win Against Walsh 2-1

Canton, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team traveled east for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest against the Walsh University Cavaliers, Saturday, Sept. 17. The Oilers beat the Cavs on their own turf by a score of 2-1. With the win, Findlay moves to 4-2-1 on the season and 3-1 in the G-MAC. Meanwhile, Walsh moves to 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in the G-MAC.

The first half saw little action as both teams failed to put a score on the board. The Oilers had many opportunities as they recorded five shots in the opening period. Including the first shot coming in the nineteenth second of the game from junior Hannah Rybicki. The Cavs would also record five shots as junior Kennedy Slovak saved all three of the shots on goal.

The Cavs struck early in the second half, scoring in the 49th minute with a goal by Hannah Stein. The Oilers then found a sense of urgency on offense as they recorded two shots before back-to-back goals. The first came in the 64th minute by freshman Payton Miller off an assist from senior Addie Graham. Then 42 seconds later senior Elizabeth Talabac found the net giving the Oilers a 2-1 lead with 25 minutes to play. From there, the Oilers recorded three more shots to the Cav's one but neither team was able to connect leaving the score at 2-1 and giving the Oilers the win.

Kennedy Slovak recorded four saves on the night.

The Oilers will be back in action on Sep. 22 as they take on Northwood University at 1pm at DeHaven Field.
