Findlay Ties Ashland in G-MAC Battle

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay Women's soccer team hosted the visiting Ashland University Eagles in their second to last Great Midwest Conference matchup of the season. The Oilers who recently clinched entry in to the Great Midwest Tournament, are still vying for position in the 2022 NCAA DII Midwest Women's Soccer Regional.

Findlay was able to strike first when junior Ellie Tischler found the back of the net off the pass from fellow junior Hannah Rybicki. Ashland would respond with a goal on their own off a penalty shot in the 41st minute to bring the score to 1-1 through the first 45 minutes of play. 

Rybicki would get another assist in the 50th minute when she would help freshmen Payton Miller record her 6th goal of the season and put Findlay up 2-1. Ashland tied the game again the 61st minute at 2-2 where it would stay for the remainder of the game. 

Freshmen Audrey Gibson-Sweifel started in goal for the Oilers and recorded three saves in her 45 minutes of play. Junior Kennedy Slovack would play the second half in goal for the Oilers and also recorded three saves. 

With the tie the Oilers moved to 9-4-3 on the season and 8-3-2 in conference play. Findlay will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at home at Armstrong Sport Complex at 7pm.
