Oilers Win Over Trevecca | Advance to G-MAC Semifinals

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's soccer team hosted Trevecca Nazarene for the quarterfinal of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Soccer Championship, Saturday, Oct. 29. The Oilers, who entered the tournament as the fourth seed, came away victorious by a score of 4-2. With the win, the Oilers move to 10-5-3 on the season and 8-4-2 in conference play.

The first half was rather quiet until the 43rd minute when freshman Payton Miller found the back of the net off of an assist from sophomore Carley Wagasky

With a one goal lead heading into the half, the Oilers came out firing on all cylinders. In the 52nd minute, the Oilers added to their lead with a goal from senior Sage Schnell off an assist from sophomore Ella Pugh. In the 66th minute the Oilers would add to their lead once again after a goal from senior Elizabeth Talabac. Then just one minute later, junior Hannah Rybicki gave Findlay their fourth goal off assists from freshman Payton Miller and senior Addie Graham

With the Oilers leading by four, the Trojans, in a last ditch effort, scored two goals of their own. They scored in both the 79th minute and the 82nd minute but ultimately fell short.

In goal for the Oilers, junior Kennedy Slovak recorded five saves with seven shots on goal by the Trojans.

With the win, Findlay will advance to the semifinal of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Soccer Championship where they will face top-seeded Cedarville on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7:00 pm. The championship game will be held two days later, Nov. 5 at 4:30 pm in Cedarville, Ohio.
