Women's Tennis Secures First G-MAC Championship
Owensboro, Ky. - The University of Findlay women's tennis team brought its best on Saturday, April 22, defeating the Northwood University Timberwolves by a score of 4-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament Championship. It is the first conference championship for the program and gives the Oilers an automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.
The Oilers, which defeated Northwood in the regular season as well, quickly won the doubles portion of the day after Emily Hadler and Zuzanna Krygier's 6-3 victory in 43 minutes at first doubles clinched the point.
In singles, senior Laiying Alvarado made quick work of her opponent, winning 6-4, 6-0. 40 minutes later, Zuzanna Krygier sealed her win at #6 singles and the next minute, Elina Ivanova clinched the match, finishing off Rafaela Platsiota at first singles.

We had 13 current players and multiple recently graduated players that set this goal and started this journey a few years ago. The players were determined this year to make it happen, especially with this being the last chance for our four seniors. To say we are happy with this result is an understatement.
