Northwood Defeats Oilers 3-2

The Oilers battled-back after dropping the first two sets 22-25 and 23-25 by winning sets three and four 29-27 and 25-18, but dropped the deciding set 15-12 in suffering the loss.

Jessica VonIns and Danielle Taflinger each hammered 11 kills for UF while Bethany Hoelscher added 10. VonIns also contibuted 25 asists and Megan Florence 19. Hoelscher and Florence each dropped-in two service aces.

Rachel Hammond was strong in the back row for the Oilers in registering 22 digs, while Sarah Schroeder added 14, VonIns 11 and Abby LaVigne 10. At the net, Taflinger collected eight block assists and one solo, LaVigne had six block assists, while VonIns and Andrea Holthaus each added four.

The Oilers now stand at 4-7 in GLIAC play and 8-9 overall, and find themselves in fifth position in the GLIAC south division. Northwood moves to 6-6 and 8-8, currently fourth in the GLIAC north.

Findlay participates in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover on October 15 and 16 at a site to be determined.
