Chargers Defeat Oilers in 5 on Saturday

The University of Findlay volleyball team dropped their second straight match as they lost 3-2 (22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22, 16-18) to Hillsdale College on Saturday, Oct. 6 in Hillsdale, Mich.  The loss gives the Oilers an 8-8 record on the year with a 5-4 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers hit .250 for the match, registering 75 kills and 29 hitting errors.  They also had five aces, but recorded 13 serving errors in the loss.

Junior Mackenzie Vorst led the team with 22 kills and 19 digs while junior Danielle Taflinger had 17 kills and .361.

Senior Maggie Naayers racked up 16 kills, sophomore Samantha Granger had 14 and sophomore Amanda Calhoun had 60 assists and 13 digs.

Junior Jacqui Endre led the defense with 23 digs while junior Brittany Hall chipped in 17 digs of her own.

Senior Andrea Holthaus added seven blocks in the match.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Oct. 12-13 at the GLVC/GLIAC Crossover, which is scheduled to take place in Aurora, Ill.
