Oilers Improve to 2-1 in GLIAC

The University of Findlay volleyball team traveled to Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. to take on the Lakers of Lake Superior State University on Friday, Sep. 25 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action.  The Oilers came out victorious winning 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-17).  They improved to 8-3 on the season and 2-1 in league play.

The Oilers had a balanced and efficient attack on the evening hitting .472 in the match.  Leading the way was junior Hannah Tong with 10 kills and four aces.

Freshman Amanda Winner did a little bit of everything for Findlay, as she had nine kills, two aces, three digs, and three blocks.  Sophomore Nickyla Garverick and senior Julie Lyons also chipped in with eight kills each.  They also added two and three blocks respectively.

Freshman Hailee Olson recorded 34 assists and sophomore Madelyn McCabe had five aces.

The Oilers are back in action Saturday, Sep. 26 as they continue their road trip at Northwood (Mich.) University.  The match is scheduled to begin at 5pm.
