Oilers Dominate Dragons in Sweep

On Friday, October 30, The University of Findlay volleyball team improved their record to 17-6 overall and 10-2 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play with a three-set sweep of Tiffin University (25-11, 25-14, 25-18).

Findlay played a tremendous game offensively as they were able to achieve a kill percentage of .398, amassing only nine attacking errors while picking up 42 kills.

The Oilers never trailed in the match and were led by the offensive firepower of Hannah Tong. The junior continued her success at the net as she was able to smash 13 kills while her teammate, senior Julie Lyons, also reached double-digits, picking up 10 kills of her own while hitting .750.

Freshman Amanda Winner and sophomore Nickyla Garverick each had seven kills in the match. Winner also had six digs on the defensive side of the ball.

Freshman Hailee Olsen was key to the offensive success as she was able to collect 37 assists.

Leading the team in digs was senior Becca Shoemaker, who picked up 13 in the three-set victory.

The Oilers are back in action at 4pm on October 31 when they will take on Ohio Dominican.
