Oilers Advance to GLIAC Championship Match

The University of Findlay volleyball team defeated Hillsdale College 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-16) in the semi-finals of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) tournament on Saturday, Nov. 21. 

The Oilers finished the match with a .339 hitting percentage.   Leading the way for the Oilers was junior Hannah Tong, who finished with a .593 hitting percentage while recording 17 kills. 

Freshman Amanda Winner compiled 12 kills and three blocks.  Sophomore Nickyla Garverick added seven kills and also pitched in with three blocks.

Seniors Andrea Roach and Julie Lyons added six kills each and Lyons led the team with four blocks.

Freshman Hailee Olson had 39 assists for Findlay and senior Becca Shoemaker led the defense with 18 digs.  Freshman Kara Scherger was active defensively as she finished with 11 digs.

The win advances The University of Findlay volleyball team to the championship match in the GLIAC tournament against nationally ranked #3 Ferris State University.  This will be the first appearance in the championship match in school history for the Oilers.  The match will be played at Ferris State University on Sunday, Nov. 22 and is scheduled to begin at 3pm.
