Oilers Wrap Up Florida Trip with Split

Fort Lauderdale, Fla- The University of Findlay team rounded up play at the 2021 NSU Volleyball Shark Invitational on Saturday, Sep. 11 in Fourt Lauderdale, Florida with a pair of matches. The Oilers started the day with a 3-1 (26-24, 23-25, 25-18, 25-21) loss to Barry University and ended the day on a high note with a 3-2 (16-25, 25-19, 25-18, 19-25, 18-16) win over Auburn University Montgomery. With the split, the Oilers head home with a 3-1 record on the season.  

In the first match the Oilers took on a tough opponent, the Barry University Buccaneers. Barry improved to a 3-0 record with the win. Barry hit an impressive .356 in the match totaling 41 kills on 90 attacks.  

The Oilers hit just .180 but were led by freshman Journey Blevins who hit .391 with a team high of 11 kills. Contributing 10 kills was sophomore Hannah Warrington who also added 3 blocks.  

Game 2, the Oilers rallied after a tough first set to win the match in a thrilling five sets. The Oilers were led again by freshman Journey Blevins who hit .386 and recorded 21 kills. Freshman Ashton Terrill contributed 29 digs. Madison Moore had six blocks and assisting her was Emma Meyers with five.  

The Oilers will be back in action Friday, Sep. 17 at 7 pm in Croy Gymnasium taking on Walsh University.
