Oilers Take Down the Storm

Painesville, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's volleyball team won a four-set match (23-25, 25-21, 25-10, 25-12) against Lake Erie College on Saturday Oct. 2. This brings the Oilers to a 10-2 record on the year and 6-1 in conference play.  

The Oilers were led by junior Emma Meyer. She had 11 kills to assist the team and hit an incredible .733. Meyer also recorded one dig and one block. 

Assisting Meyer was freshman Journey Blevins who had 17 kills and hit .371 on the match. She also had one dig and one block. Sophomore Hannah Warrington had 10 kills.  

Adding to the scoring frenzy was senior Abigail Schroeder who had six aces. Her performance tonight ties for the 11th most service aces in school history.  

On the defensive side, senior Ashton Terrill had 15 digs and was assisted by sophomore Alissa Rhodes and Schroeder who added 6 digs each. 

The Oilers hit .358 for the match and held Lake Erie to a hitting percentage of .248. In the final set the Oilers hit .619 to put an end to the competition. 

The Oilers are back in action Friday, Oct. 8 against Ohio Dominican at 7pm in Croy Gymnasium.
