Oilers Dominate Dragons in Tiffin

Tiffin, Ohio – The University of Findlay volleyball team continued Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play on Tuesday, Sep. 13 with a trip east on highway 224 to take on the Tiffin University Dragons. Findlay took down the Dragons in a clean sweep, winning the match 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 28-26). With that win, the Oilers improve to 5-7 on the year with a 2-0 record in G-MAC play while Tiffin is now 5-7 overall and 1-3 in conference action.

The first two sets heavily favored Findlay which put together two of their best sets of the season thus-far. The Oilers hit .474 in the opening set while Tiffin had a negative hitting percentage at -.136. In the second set, it was a similar result with Findlay hitting .333 and the Dragons hit .042.

In the third and ultimately final set, the script was completely flipped as Tiffin jumped out to a big lead. The Dragons had a 20-9 advantage in the set before Findlay then went on a 16-5 run to tie the set up at 25-25. The Oilers went on to a 28-26 win, stealing the set from Tiffin and winning the match.

For the match, the Oilers hit .265, picking up 40 kills on 98 attempts. On the other side, Tiffin had a hitting percentage of just .030.

Reigning G-MAC Player of the Week, sophomore Journey Blevins, stole the show on Tuesday, recording 18 kills while hitting .324. She also had seven digs in the win.

Senior Norah Painter had nine kills and hit a team-high .444 and senior Emma Meyer recorded six kills and hit .385. Meyer also led the team with four blocks.

Sophomore Ava Doster, the current G-MAC Defensive Player of the Week, led the defense with 18 digs while freshman Emma White recorded 37 assists to help lead the offense. Freshman Olivia Pearce had a team-high five aces.

Findlay returns to Croy for the first of five straight home games on Saturday, Sep. 17 with a match against Lake Erie College. That match begins at 4:00 pm.
