Oilers Will Hold Orange and Black Game on Saturday (4/21)

The University of Findlay football team will hold the final of its 15 spring practices on Saturday, April 21 at Donnell Stadium beginning at 1 p.m.  The Orange and Black game is open to the public and free of charge.

Before the Orange and Black game begins, the Oilers will host their second annual alumni flag football game, which is scheduled to begin at noon.  Fans are encouraged to attend and watch some of your favorite players from years past compete in the fun and free event.

The Oilers, who finished the 2011 campaign with a 6-5 record, will return 44 players who saw game action last year.  The team also returns ten offensive starters and seven players from their starting defensive unit.

Running back Monterae Williams will come back for his senior season after being named first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as a junior.

Williams finished the 2011 season with 1,268 yards rushing, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.  He also scored 18 touchdowns on the ground and averaged 115.3 yards per contest, which ranks 15th nationally.

The Canton, Ohio native added recorded seven 100-yard rushing games on the year and added 14 receptions for 121 yards and a score.

His 114 total points scored on the year is the third best mark in school history and he know ranks fourth all-time at Findlay with 3,312 career rushing yards.

Williams currently ranks fourth all-time in career rushing yardage at Findlay with 3,312 yards.  He is 698 yards shy of breaking the school record for most rushing yards in a career, which was set by Nelson Bolden, who ran his way to 4,009 yards from 1977-80.

Second team all-conference pick Scott Dearwester will return for his final season and anchor the Oilers offensive line while tight end Jaryd Brown, left tackle Justin Music and wide receiver Seth White return after being selected honorable mention all-conference last year.

Dearwester has been a three-year starter on the offensive line while Brown and White each broke out with big seasons in their first year of starting duty.

Brown hauled in 46 passes for 598 yards and six touchdowns while White recorded 60 receptions for 628 yards and four touchdowns.

Music protected the blindside and started all nine games in which he played in.

Quarterback Clay Belton also returns to the offense for his final year after becoming only the third Oilers player in school history to pass for more than 2,000 yards in a season.  In his first season at Findlay, Belton threw for 2,039 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The defensive unit will be led by lineman Richard Sumlin and linebacker Brandon Butler, who were each tabbed honorable mention all-conference after the 2011 campaign.

Butler led the team with 102 tackles while Sumlin made 44 stops and recorded a team-high 4.5 sacks.
