Williams Named 1st Team All-GLIAC

Senior running back Monterae Williams was named first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) on Wednesday, Nov. 14 for the second consecutive season.

Williams finished his senior season with 1,348 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.  During his final year with the Oilers, Williams broke school records for career carries (980) and career rushing yards (4,660).  He also ranks second all-time with 50 career touchdowns.

Williams had seven 100-yard games during his senior season and scored a touchdown in all but one game during the 2012 campaign.  He averaged 5.0 yards per carry and also made 15 receptions for 94 yards.

The Canton, Ohio native is also leading the nation in scoring, accounting for 12.6 points per game.

The Oilers also had five other individuals earn honors from the GLIAC as senior center Scott Dearwester, senior defensive tackle Richard Sumlin, senior linebacker Brandon Butler, junior wide receiver Seth White and junior defensive back Ray Ballard were tabbed second team all-league.

Dearwester anchored an Oilers offense, which put up 32.5 points per game and 437.1 yards of total offense per outing.  The Cincinnati, Ohio native started every game of his collegiate career, making 43 straight starts, and was named second team all-conference last year as well.

Sumlin racked up 43 tackles and a team-high 11.5 tackles for a loss during his final year with the Oilers.  The Medina, Ohio native also recorded four sacks and led the team with four quarterback hurries.

Butler finished his senior season with 112 total tackles, averaging 11.2 stops per game.  His tackle total was the highest in the GLIAC this season and ranks seventh nationally.

Ballard made the transition over to defense this year and accounted for 47 tackles.  He also registered five tackles for a loss, four sacks and six passes defensed.  The Columbus, Ohio native also forced three fumbles and recovered three as well.

White did a little bit of everything for Findlay as a junior, serving as a wide receiver, punter and kicker.  As a receiver, White led the team with 698 receiving yards and five touchdowns.  He caught 48 passes on the year, averaged 36.5 yards per punt and connected on all 30 of his extra point attempts while drilling four field goals as well.

In addition, senior quarterback Clay Belton, senior offensive lineman Tyler Johns, senior defensive end Josh Klopefer, junior tight end Jaryd Brown, junior offensive lineman Justin Music and junior defensive back Jamon McClain earned honorable mention honors.

Belton threw for a school record 2,329 yards during his final year to go along with 15 touchdown passes.  He averaged 232.9 yards per game through the air and completed 58.2 percent of his passing attempts.

Johns and Music helped the Oilers dominate the line of scrimmage in the running game and keep Belton upright in the passing game while Kloepfer was a force on defense with 36 tackles and six tackles for a loss.

Brown led the team with 50 receptions and recorded 646 receiving yards.  He caught five touchdown passes and ran for another while averaging 64.6 yards per game.

McClain ranked second on the team with 50 tackles and also made 3.5 tackles for a loss.  He also recorded a sack and picked off a pass during his junior season.
