4 Oilers Earn 1st Team Honors from Ohio College Football

Four Oilers football players earned first team all-Ohio honors by Ohio College Football this season with another four adding second team honors.

Senior running back Monterae Williams, junior tight end Jaryd Brown, senior linebacker Brandon Butler and senior center Scott Dearwester each earned first team honors for their play during the 2012 season.

Williams, a two-time first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) pick and second team all-region selection, finished his senior season with 1,348 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns.  During his final year with the Oilers, Williams broke school records for career carries (980) and career rushing yards (4,660).  He also ranks second all-time with 50 career touchdowns.

Williams had seven 100-yard games during his senior season and scored a touchdown in all but one game during the 2012 campaign.  He averaged 5.0 yards per carry and also made 15 receptions for 94 yards.

The Canton, Ohio native also the nation in scoring, accounting for 12.6 points per game.

Brown, who earned honorable mention all-conference accolades, led the team with 50 receptions and recorded 646 receiving yards.  He caught five touchdown passes and ran for another while averaging 64.6 yards per game.

Butler was a second team all-conference selection after wrapping up his career with 112 tackles in 2012.  His 11.2 tackles per game was the highest in the GLIAC and ranked seventh nationally.

Dearwester, a four-year starter at center for the Oilers, helped pave the way for Findlay to accumulate 32.5 points per game and 437.1 yards of total offense per outing.  He was also named second team all-conference as well for the second consecutive year.

Junior offensive lineman Justin Music, senior defensive lineman Richard Sumlin, junior defensive back Ray Ballard and junior wide receiver Seth White, who also earned a second team nod as a punter, were the Oilers second team all-Ohio picks.

Music was a dominating force at guard for the Oilers and earned honorable mention all-conference accolades in 2012 while Sumlin was disruptive on the defensive line from his tackle position where he earned second team all-GLIAC honors with 43 tackles and a team-high 11.5 tackles for a loss.

Ballard, who was also a second team all-GLIAC selection, made 47 tackles at corner and safety to go along with four sacks.

White meanwhile was a jack of all trades for the Oilers in 2012 as he registered a team-high 698 receiving yards and five touchdowns.  He caught 48 passes, averaged 36.5 yards per punt and connected on all 30 of his extra point attempts.  The second team all-conference selection also drilled four field goals for Findlay as well.
