The Oilers football team will be in Marquette, Mich. on Saturday, Nov. 15 to face Northern Michigan University. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the Superior Dome.

Coach Keys Weekly

Don't forget to tune into 88.3 FM "WLFC" for Coach Keys Weekly.  The radio show will be broadcast live from Fricker's every Monday evening during the season.  The show is aired live from 6-7 p.m. on Monday evenings.  Fans are encouraged to attend the show so they can listen live over the sound system and enjoy the great food Fricker's has to offer.

The Series

The Oilers currently trail 12-6 in the all-time series against Northern Michigan dating back to the 1954 campaign when the Wildcats were victorious by a score of 14-6.

Last season the Oilers trailed the Wildcats 38-10 late in the third quarter in Marquette before their comeback bid fell short as they dropped a 41-31 decision to Northern Michigan.

Verlon Reed completed 22-of-36 passing attempts for 363 yards and also rushed 15 times for 59 yards. 

Lloyd Henry caught ten balls for 175 yards and two scores while Luke Hampton had six catches for 140 yards.

Daiquone Ford rushed the ball 22 times for 87 yards and a score while also catching four passes for 40 yards.

Head Coach Rob Keys

Head coach Rob Keys is currently in his fourth season at the helm of the Oilers football program. During his tenure with the team, Keys has guided the Oilers to a 26-16 overall record. He has also posted a 22-13 record in conference play.

The Oilers

The Oilers defense was dominant in their 38-0 win over Malone last week on the road as they recorded seven tackles for a loss, three interceptions and two fumbles in the win while holding the Pioneers to only 252 yards of total offense.

Zach Matracia returned an interception 74 yards for a score and Myles Alexander scooped up a fumble and sprinted 16 yards for a touchdown.

Matracia ended the contest with a game-high 12 tackles, also adding a sack, two tackles for a loss and two interceptions. Alexander meanwhile finished with five tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Verlon Reed paced the offense with 136 passing yards and a 62 rushing yards while Chauncey Bridges posted 83 rushing yards on 18 carries to go along with a touchdown.

Daiquone Ford added 49 yards on the ground and a score while Lloyd Henry made three catches for 62 yards and a touchdown.

The Wildcats

The Wildcats are 2-8 on the year with a 1-8 record in conference play. They are coming off of a 35-17 loss at Ferris State last weekend.

Shaye Brown has led the offense with 2,120 passing yards and ten scores while Marcus Tucker has been a big play threat on the outside with 709 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He is averaging 19.2 yards per catch.

Trevor Kruzel leads the defense with 11.5 tackles for a loss.

A New All-Time Leader

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry became the Oilers all-time leader in career receptions against Grand Valley State on Oct. 25. Henry now has 167 career receptions, the best in school history.

Henry has also accumulated 2,287 career receiving yards, a total that ranks second all-time at Findlay.  Scott McLaughlin (1991-94) is currently the all-time leader in receiving yards at Findlay with 2,403.

Sticky Hands

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry leads the GLIAC with 71 receptions this season, which is the 13th best total in the nation. He is also ranked first in the conference and 19th in the nation in receiving yards with 982 and third in the league in receiving touchdowns with eight.

Henry is on pace to set season records in catches and yards this season. The school record for receptions in a season is 74, which was set by Mike Chambers during the 2008 campaign. The school record for receiving yards in a season is 1,027, which was also set by Chambers during the 2009 season.

Henry caught a season-high and school record 15 balls for 202 yards in the Oilers 47-7 win over Walsh on Oct. 11.

Record Breaking

Senior quarterback Verlon Reed is Findlay's all-time leader in single season passing yardage as he has thrown for a school record 2,490 yards this year.  Reed has also completed 189 passes on 319 attempts this season, which are also single season school records.

Reed has a chance to establish a new career passing record as he has thrown for 4,281 yards during his tenure with the team, the third best mark in school history.

Aerial Attack

The Oilers have thrown for 2,684 yards this season at an average of 268.4 yards per contest, which is the second best mark in the GLIAC.  The team is approaching a school record for most passing yards in a season, which was set last year. The 2013 edition of the Oilers established a school record of 2,696 passing yards.

A Tackling Machine

Senior safety Harold Jones-Quartey ranks fourth the GLIAC in tackles with 97 this season.  Jones-Quartey put up a career-high tying 17 tackles in the Oilers loss to nationally-ranked Ferris State on Oct. 4.

The senior also ranks tenth nationally in solo tackles per game, making 6.5 solo stops per contest.

A Golden Leg

Sophomore kicker Tyler Bugeja has connected on 11-of-12 field goal attempts this season. His 11 field goals in 2014 is the third highest total in school history and his .917 kicking percentage is the fourth best mark in the nation.

Former kicker Cameron Stevens holds the school record for most field goals in a season. He kicked 14 for the Oilers during the 2014 campaign.

Shutout Victories

The Oilers recorded their first shutout victory last weekend since 2009 as they defeated Malone University by a score of 38-0 in Canton, Ohio. The Oilers have not recorded a shutout since since they blanked Northwood University by a score of 14-0 on Sep. 26, 2009.

Matracia Rewarded

Senior linebacker Zach Matracia was named the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) NCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 10 for his performance in the Oilers 38-0 win at Malone on Saturday.

Matracia had a huge day in helping the Oilers record their first shutout since the 2009 campaign as he racked up a team-high 12 tackles to go along with a sack, two tackles for a loss and two interceptions. He returned on of his interceptions 74 yards for a touchdown.
