Henry Tabbed 1st Team All-GLIAC

2014 All-GLIAC Teams

Senior wide receiver Lloyd Henry was tabbed first team all-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as the league office unveiled their annual postseason awards on Nov. 19.

Henry set school single season school records and led the conference with 81 receptions for 1,105 yards during his final year. He averaged 100.5 receiving yards per game and also caught eight touchdown passes during the 2014 campaign.

The Garfield Heights, Ohio native ended his career at UF as the all-time leader in receptions (177) and receiving yards (2,410).

In addition, junior left tackle Chris Reaper and senior safety Harold Jones-Quartey were named second team all-conference.

Reaper helped pave the way for the Oilers to average 448.4 yards per game and 35.3 points per contest. His blocking allowed Findlay to set a new school record for passing yards in a season with 2,944 as well.

Jones-Quartey led the Oilers defense with 105 tackles. His 70 solo stops on the year ranked third in the conference and he also added 3.5 tackles for a loss.

Senior quarterback Verlon Reed, senior linebacker Zach Matracia, senior punter Alex Irastorza, sophomore kicker Tyler Bugeja, sophomore linebacker Myles Alexander and freshman running back Chauncey Bridges also received accolades for their performance during the 2014 campaign by earning honorable mention all-conference status.

Reed threw for a school record 2,712 yards during his final year with the team and also connected on 22 touchdown passes. The signal caller also gained 634 yards on the ground to go along with seven rushing touchdowns.

Matracia finished his final year with 73 tackles, which included 8.5 tackles for a loss.  He also recorded 1.5 sacks and led the team with three interceptions.

Irastorza averaged 38.9 yards per punt and placed nine balls inside the 20-yard line during his senior year. He also set a school record with a 79-yard punt against Tiffin on Sep. 20.

Bugeja tied a school record with 14 fields in his first season with the Oilers. He only missed one field attempt on the season and a season-long 47-yard field goal against Northern Michigan on Nov. 15.

Alexander racked up 62 tackles on the year, which included 9.5 tackles for a loss. He led the team with 4.5 sacks and also recovered and forced two fumbles.

Bridges led the Oilers ground attack with 643 rushing yards. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry and also scored six touchdowns on the ground. Bridges also caught 14 balls on the year, three for touchdowns.
