Caldwell and Rigerman Named All-Region by D2CCA

D2CCA Release

Findlay, Ohio - The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) released their football all-region selections on Thursday, Dec. 1 to each of the four super regions in the coutnry. In Super Region 1, Findlay had two players selected as senior Kijana Caldwell was named first-team on defense while junior Mike Rigerman was named second-team on offense.

In his final season at Findlay, Kijana Caldwell certainly left his mark on the program. The Oswego, Illinois native was the top vote-getter in the region at his position, cementing himself as one of the top safeties in Super Region 1. From his position, Caldwell was a blanket defender on the back end of a stingy Oilers defense. He tied for the league lead with five interceptions this season, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He also posted a career-high 56 tackles to go along with one tackle-for-loss, which was a sack, and one fumble recovery. Caldwell finishes his career with nine interceptions, 13 pass breakups, and 137 tackles in 46 games played.

This is Caldwell's first all-reigion award of his career and, as a first-team recipient, his name will now be moved onto the all-American ballot which will begin voting Dec. 5 and will be announced ten days later on Thursday, Dec. 15.

Securing a second-consecutive season on the all-region list is junior Mike Rigerman who has been named second-team after an appearance on first-team last season. In 2022, Rigerman  had 37 catches for 478 yards, both the best among tight ends in the conference. He also hauled in three touchdowns on the year and posted a season-high 105 yards receiving on Sep. 17 against Southwest Baptist.
