Ashland, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams took part in the first Jud Logan 'Light Giver' Open on Saturday, Feb. 5 held at the Niss Athletic Center at Ashland University. Prior to the start of competition, the indoor track was dedicated in the name of former US Olympian and legendary Ashland Eagles head coach Jud Logan who recently passed away.

Women

The Oilers had a solid showing in the sand pit, as they have all season long. Sophomore Simone Green continued to dominate as she racked up yet another win in the long jump.  Green reached a distance of 5.72m (18'9.25"), an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. That jump was more than a full foot past the runner-up in the event. Freshman Madison Myers picked up a third-place finish in the event with a jump of 5.30m (17'4.75").

Sophomore Moran England was the third-place finisher in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.05m (13'3.5") while junior teammate Meadow Cromer finished fourth by clearing 4.00m (13'1.5"). Both marks meet the NCAA provisional standard.

In the 60m dash final, freshman Nicole Fishpaw clocked a personal-best time of 7.73 seconds to finish the race in third.

Men

In the triple jump, senior Martin Etsey, a two-time all-American in the event, was the top finisher as he recorded an NCAA provisional jump that measured 14.50m (47'7"). That jump was more than two feet further than the runner-up finisher, Corey Minton from John Carroll.

Freshman Chris Campbell came up just short in the long jump, finishing in runner-up with a jump of 7.15m (23'5.5"), three-hundredths of a meter shy of the winner, Caden Morris of Ashland. Finishing in fifth in the event was sophomore Eliot Cummings who jumped 6.92m (22'8.5") while freshman Shakur Payton took sixth at 6.83m (22'5"). Campbell's jump met the NCAA provisional mark in the event.

Also on the track, the Oilers took second in the distance medley relay as freshman Simon Derstine, freshman Joe Sadowski, freshman Gabriel Foster, and freshman Jordan Foster raced to a time of 9:59.80, just a second behind the first-place squad but good enough to meet the NCAA provisional mark in the event.

Findlay junior Xavier Marable took to the track in the 400m, an event in which he has earned all-American status in three consecutive seasons. On Saturday, Marable took third place, finishing in a time of 48.56.
