NCAA DII Outdoor Track and Field Championship Qualifiers Announced | Findlay Sends Ten

Findlay, Ohio- The NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced the participants of the 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships. A total of 754 participants, 377 men and 377 women, will compete in the championships. Student-athletes qualified for the championships by reaching a provisional standard established for each event. The Oilers will send four men and six women to compete in the championship. 

 

Men

Representing the Oilers in both the discus throw and the hammer throw is senior standout Austin Combs. He will be seeded twenty-first in the discus throw with a seed mark of 52.74m and second in the hammer throw with a seed mark of 68.51m.  Combs came in twelfth in the discus throw before bringing home the title in the hammer throw in 2021. The Findlay, Ohio native has  won three national championships during his career at Findlay.

Sophomore Noah Fisher will be competing in the 10,000m run. He is seeded tenth with a seed time of 29:19.64. Fisher holds the program record in the event with a time of 29:19.64 which he set earlier this year.

Freshman Shakur Payton will be competing for the Oilers in the high jump. He is in the fifteenth seed with a seed mark of 2.12m. Senior Gabe Makin will be competing in the pole vault. He takes the fifteenth seed entering the event with a seed mark of 5.09m. 

 

Women

Representing the Oilers in both the 5,000m run and the 10,000 meter run is senior Hannah Thompson. Thompson holds the fifteenth seed in the 5,000m run with a seed time of 16:26.76 and holds the eighth seed in the 10,000m run with a seed time of 34:28.05. Thompson who has dominated the track this year has rewritten the Oilers record books. She holds both the 5,000m and 10,000m program records. Before transferring to Findlay, Thompson was an all-American standout at Malone University.

Sophomore Kylie Ray will represent the Oilers in the 400m hurdles. She is the eighteenth seed with a seed time of 1:00.77. 

The Oilers will continue their dominance in the pole vault. Seniors Savannah Amato and Meadow Cromer will both be representing Findlay in the event. Amato will be seeded third in the event with a seed mark of 4.27m while Cromer will be seeded twenty-second with a seed mark of 3.98m. Amato is coming off of a dominating season. Amato came in sixth in the event in 2021. 

Competing in the shot put for the Oilers is both freshman Trista Fintel and junior Paige Emnett. Fintel and Emnett will be seeded eleventh and twelfth respectively and both have a seed mark of 12.69m entering the event. 

 

The event will be held May 26 through May 28 at the Grand Valley State University Track and Field Stadium in Allendale, Mich.
